id4u

App concept | February 2025

This app concept was for my Mobile Interface Design course I took in Spring 2025. I was tasked with creating a smart wallet app, and I decided to focus solely on identification. I have experience in retail, which means I check people's IDs often when they buy restricted items. It can really hold up my line when customers have to fumble with their wallet, but things are effortlessly fast when they use tap-to-pay. I sought to create a simple, fast, and secure form of digital identification, ideal for buying restricted items or getting into restricted areas (like bars or venues). The main focus of everything about this design is speed and ease-of-access, while still balancing safety.

id4u has multiple levels of security to ensure that all information is safe and accurate (PIN number and facial/fingerprint recognition). These verification methods can be easily accessed as soon as the app is opened, allowing users to quickly get their ID ready in line without having to go through multiple menus. It is also for this reason that the visuals are simple, allowing the app to load fast on lower-end devices. Compatible ID types also have a special QR code that can be used at verified locations so that the ID-examining process can be skipped entirely (Similar to Yoti). id4u can display driver's licenses, vaccination records, school IDs, and regular photo IDs.
